Does your sister/brother always sits before your pc and browses Facebook.
Do you want to stop them using fb ? Well, its simple .
Follow these steps when you use the PC next time
1) Open ‘My Computer‘ .
2) Browse to the following path
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
(Here i have assumed c drive to be the system drive )
3) Open the hosts file
The file would look like this
4) Add an entry
So you have to right-click on notepad select run as administrator and then open this file.
5) Save the file without any extension
The edited file would be like this
Restart the browser to see the changes.
When your sister/brother browses the web all pages except the blocked ones would load.
They would think Fb server is down
You could add any number of web sites.
Next time when you use ,you can remove the entry and surf.
Don’t forget to try this to your room mates.
How it works ?
Being a reader of techmemore you must know technically what
happens. The hosts file has mappings for
host names and ip address . So when you add an entry like
127.0.0.1 www.google.com
It means map the host name google.com is mapped to 127.0.0.1 which is
the local host (your own ip) .Thus you have confused windows and
your friend/brother/sister.
